If you choose the Forest package, we estimate between 3–6 months for an initial full CO₂ scoping and E/ESG analysis, depending on the size and level of engagement of your hospital or medical department and the delivery of the required data.

For a re-measurement in subsequent years, this process can be completed more quickly thanks to the procedures already in place.

​To calculate your ecological impact, the first step is to identify the emission sources of your institution.

These sources are based on purchasing data and include, among others:

• Purchases of pharmaceuticals
• Purchases of medical devices
• Electricity and water consumption invoices
• Food purchases and waste data
• Commuting (home-to-work travel)
• Etc.

Next, this data is converted into tCO₂e using our LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) database, the most accurate conversion factors available or, as a last resort, spend-based factors. This spend-based approach is always applied in close collaboration with the hospital’s sustainability coordinators to ensure transparency and consistency.

However, as sustainability awareness grows in our sector, we expect our LCA database to expand significantly in the coming years, enabling increasingly precise scoping and calculations over time. EDDP

In a full scoping exercise within the Forest Package, we look at both:

• Quantitative data: Based on purchasing records and other measurable datasets.
• Qualitative data: Gathered through interviews. For this, we engage with department heads and the hospital’s sustainability leads. This approach allows us to map out all sustainability initiatives within your hospital or medical department comprehensively.

Our methodology is based on the voluntary CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and EFRAG standards.
